About Daniel Ewert

Daniel Ewert is an award winning photographer who has been published in numerous venues and publications that include Nature's Best Photography Magazine, the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C., National Geographic Traveler, the United States Department of the Interior, the United States National Park Service, the National Wildlife Federation, the T.T. Wentworth Museum, and the Nature Conservancy.

Daniel travels and hikes throughout North America and the world to photograph beautiful wilderness landscapes in the soft light of dawn and dusk. He uses the most advanced digital cameras and lenses available from both Sony and Canon for his work, and he post-processes the native RAW files on the Sony Capture One editing platform. While Daniel uses post-processing tools (such as Sony's RAW converter) as part of the "digital darkroom" process, he primarily relies on time-honored field techniques utilized by America's best landscape photographers from the days of film photography to accurately capture his images in the field using a single exposure. Daniel always recommends the book "Landscape Photography" by Tim Fitzharris as a great tool for photographers who want to learn how to "get it right" in the field using a single exposure.

Daniel's favorite photography and hiking locations in the mountains include Glacier National Park, Olympic National Park, and Mt. Rainier National Park. He also enjoys backcountry camping and nature photography in desert wilderness national parks and protected areas in Utah, Arizona, and California.
